Blah Blah Blogs: BONIFACIO what?!

Bonifacio Day ...
again...
so... what are we celebrating?
no work or classes (yesterday due to the move on the date)?
Double pay (for call centers)?
Wreath laying ceremonies (for government offiials)?
It is actually his birthday today.

We might not even know what is so important about this date... yes you ma know that it is Bonifacio day
thats it. We have the impression that Andres Bonifacio is a bolo-wielding Katipunero with red pants and a camiso de chino. But he was not always what we know as "a tapang a tao, walang takot" (brave & fearless). He was actually a man of character and education, although ulike Rizal, he did read a lot of books even of Rizal which he mentioned that gave him the inspiration to fight. Bonifacio was not able to see the Philippines in full independence unlike Emilio Aguinaldo who died decades after the independence from America. He was betrayed and killed on a mountain in Cavite. More than a century now, there is still a debate if he was the first president of the Republic and also who is worthy to be proclaimed as the national hero.
Almost everywhere in the Philippines, there is a place that has the 'Rizal' name, but 'Bonifacio' also comes in second. It is a good alternative than having everything in the name of Jose. But what happened now that these words associated with Andres Bonifacio has been known for oher things and most of the unheroic, here are some samples...

  • Katipunan - street where Ateneo is located
  • Bonifacio - the global city and high street.
  • Cedula - is a need especially for work
  • Balintawak - the usual market for double dead meat (bocha)

Bonifacio's life is more than bravery of the bolo against guns but also the will that caused the Katipunan storm that led to the country's independence. We need to have someone like him to make another wave against the current problems that keeps our country captive.  We do not detrone Rizal as the national hero but must see his traits that we can learn a lot.

Think like Rizal, Act like Bonifacio.
Patuloy ang Katipunan, handa ka bang sumama?

After 5 years...

Blah Blah Blogs Lotto Loco U!

NO WINNER

WINNERS' CIRCLE!

I was recently invited by a good friend Jayson Biadog on his celebration of the Winners Circle winners at Wendy's Boni. It was an event that he organized by himself. He is actually really one cool blogger as he himself is a winner in many different ways, and most especially in winning contest. Now, he wants to share this to fellow bloggers both old and new. My blog is even older than his but he was actively joining contest in the past that he was able to go to Singapore and date a beauty queen there.

Now, for this event he gathered fellow bloggers to celebrate the winners of the Winners' Circle contest in his blog. But it feels that all who attended the event are already winners in their own way as they are also successful and also has their own story to share. Most of them are new bloggers and mommy bloggers. Present in the event were Jonel Uy and Ms. Janette Toral who also shared their wisdom about blogging.

It was indeed fun to meet new bloggers at that time. Hope to meet them in the coming events!

In celebration of the World A.I.D.S. College students and call center agents can participate in this one-day dance competition with over PHP 175,000 in cash prizes up for grabs.

P100,000 awaits the champion while the first runner up gets P50,000 and the second runner up will take home P25,000. Plus, all non-winning dance groups will get a consolation prize of P5,000 each. The group with the most number of contingent/supporters will receive P20,000.

Filipinos are very talented and we want to be instrumental in spreading awareness about AIDS in a wholesome and fun way. Blah Blah Blogs: NU Rock On Until Infinity

NU 107.5
home of new rock
(1987-2010)

Another institution in the radio industry just left the airwaves, NU 107 the premiere rock music station that helped discovered Pinoy rock and alternative artists had closed down to be changed into a "masa" station. This move was a corporate decision yet, many people are sad to hear that for the sake of business, quality OPM music will never be the same. Honestly, I not really an avid listener but I do wish that they would kept it  since there is also the silent majority who listens to them. The "masa" stations as they pose a threat to Pinoy radio as a form of all Pop and  many has joined the bandwagon. In the past decade, there is not of this format but if it will continue, all stations would actually sound the same, no diversity, now that is boring.

And though NU is now off the air, it will rock on until infinity in the hearts of its listeners and artist!

Pinoy Leads The Amazing Race Asia Season 4!

Pinoy Power leads the Amazing Race Asia this season 4, aside from featuring Misibis Bay as one of the locations for the race. Tessa Prieto-Valdez was part of the welcoming committee for the contestants. I got A chance to view the next episode of the Amazing Race Asia Season 4 at the National Sports Grill together with bloggers and other friends of the contestants. There are actually two Pinoy Teams, (The Two Richards and the girl tandem of Lani and Jess.
For this episode, they now travel to New Zealand, and face the challenges of the wide fields of milking cows and of  snow-capped mountains. There there was the race on how to get to the destination with flights limited and has delays up to hours in the airport. The challenges that face them are the great bungee drop or a very, I mean VERY big swing that I have second thoughts of doing. Also they faced the challenge of sawing lumber the old fashion way. This challenge also used a lot of time for the other teams to catch up. The one of the last challenges is the Rugby football which is also a test of skill and agility. At the end of this leg of the race, the Richards were the one who made it first. Yet with their teamwork, I think they have a very good chance of winning!

with Lani, sweet yet very competitive!
PDA stars also joined in for the event
Bugoy Drilon spotted!
Team Pinoy (and an excess baggage LOL)
I want that laptop case!
another exciting race!

Now, we hope that in this season, Pinoys will be the ones to make it first!

Discovering Fun and Facts at the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center!

Knowledge is definitely power especially when it is applied at an early age, and what better way to condition young minds into thinking and critical brains is to expose them to fact about the world. Yes, there are a lot of books available in the market and bookstores, however it would be best that we can experience them so we could and also know how to apply them. It is good to know that there are places of learning wherein we can encounter these facts and work young minds into interested individuals.
Aside from the museums and libraries, there are also centers for science and technology like the Nido Science Discovery Center at the Mall of Asia that caters to these needs. I recently got the chance to experience the facility as it is filled with a lot of things that even I at my age is still a new learning for me. The main attraction of the center is the Planetarium that has the latest technology in showing films and presentation using the dome as the screen like most planetariums but more clearer and with surround sound.
The kids will also like the interactive games and features that corresponds to the topic being discussed. There is a lot of interactive games and activities that one can enjoy at the same time also learn a lot about the world especially with technology and taking care of the environment. From robots to under the sea, the jungle and the polar ice caps. For all children and kids at heart, having a day at the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center will be more than a fun-filled day, but also a great chance of learning new things about the world.
They had recent activities like Search for the BLURB and also the launch of the new film that will be shown in the planetarium

Blah Blah Blogs: Undas 2010

 Undas
(first)

Tradition makes life more interesting as we celebrate it with friends and family, but for a unique celberation like All saints and souls day is also a celebration of life and death. It is something that we worry too often but never know when will it arrive. Todos los santos, or commonly known as Undas or All Saints' Day is celebrated all over the country to commemorate the departed loved ones and take time to visit them a their resting place.

I visited my father at the Eternal Gardens at Caloocan, it has been seven years since I last saw him alive, and I still do miss him even he would not be the best father figure that many people wanted but I am proud to be his son together with my siblings. My gradfather's grave is in La Union, so my mother and Lola are the people who would visit hom there.  I was sad to see that on my father's side of the grass is withered unlike his brother which is properly gardened. I promised my father if I get rich, I would make him a mausoleum so he wont be just underground forever. Who doesn't right?

There is just a question that will make you think... why is it always that we spoil our loved ones when they are already dead? Why not today? If you had an argument and hate, why try to settle this and be in good terms before they are gone?

Just my two cents for this season...
love the departed, but love more the living...
