REEL DEAL Movies and Television: Deep Gold

TRUST NO ONE.

Basic rule of the trade, this is the message DEEP GOLD wants to portray. Written and directed by Michael Gleissner of Big Foot productions (Based in Cebu City). The film is shot at the islands of Cebu and Palawan in the Philippines with a lot of scenic shots of the sea and islands. The whole production took 5 years in the making due to changes, ballooning budget and also the CGI.

Starring Bebe Pham as Amy Sanchez, a world class diver who gets into a dilemma with the disappearance of her Air Force Pilot Boyfriend Tony dela Cruz (Jack Prinya) , Jaymee Ong as Amy's sister Jess Sanchez. and Laury Prudent as Lulu the innovative Radio DJ broadcasting from a Lighthouse. Michael Glesissner also stars in this movie as Benny Simpson. Deep Gold 3D showcases conspiracy, insidious deception, untold troubles, mysterious adventure, and relentless passion to fight all the tribulations, stay alive, and move forward. Its fast paced with action especially in the water, air and even on land.

Deliberation time kids! Movie summary in 3 lines: Where's the Gold?
Technical Effects: 3 out of 5 stars (Its better than local CGI but stilll far from the Hollywood ones)
Plot: 2 out of 5 stars (Quite predictable, funny moments at the wrong time, sometimes sexy sometimes not, and there are still a lot of questions left unpatched at the end)
Popcornmeter: (the rating if this movie would make you hungrier while watching) 1 out of 5 (Mind to eat gold?)
Acting and Actors: 1 out of 5 stars (Lines were delivered, but it either wrong emotion, awkward moments, however I say kudos to Laury Prudent for her role although a supporting character but really gave justice.)
DVD worthiness 3 out of 5 stars (includes a depth cart and some pyrite)
Sequel worthiness:
2 out of 5 stars (try 'Deep Pearl' perhaps?)
3D Worthiness: (yey, neigh or ahm): NEIGH

Music and Soundtracks: 3 out for 5 stars (though no OST, the music was just right, that's it)
Overall: Rating 2 out of 5 stars (Though I love films featuring the Philippine landscapes the movie should have made efforts in acting which takes the majority of the film. Like I mentioned above they should focus on the plot and acting nextime, if ever.)
