Sandy Andolong in full support of husband Christopher de Leon’s election bid

Veteran actress and “Pahiram ng Sandali” star Sandy Andolong said, in an interview on the set of the GMA primetime series, that even though she had reservations at first about her husband’s entry into politics, she is nonetheless in full support of his bid to be the congressman of the second district of the province of Batangas.

“Siyempre may mga concerns din ako nung una kasi alam naman natin kung gaano kagulo ang pulitika; hindi mo alam kung sino yung talagang totoong kaibigan mo diyan at sino ang hindi.  But of course alam ko naman na very passionate siya [Christopher] sa desire niya na makatulong at makapagsilbi sa mga kababayan niya, kaya I am supporting him through and through,” said the actress.

Both Sandy and Christopher star in “Pahiram ng Sandali” which is scheduled to end very soon, but Christopher is leaving the show a lot sooner -- just in time for the campaign period, which bans political candidates from appearing regularly in any TV show.

Sandy however clarified that even if Christopher didn't vie for a political position, the life of his character in the series is really up until a few weeks before the finale.

Sandy on son Gab de Leon’s showbiz career

Christopher and Sandy’s middle child, Gab de Leon, has recently entered show business, following in the footsteps of his celebrity parents.  Gab is now part of the teen series, “Teen Gen,” which airs every Sunday on GMA-7.

Sandy said that she and her husband neither convinced nor discouraged any of their children from entering show business, although, ideally, they had wanted their children to finish their studies first before entering the industry.  

Fortunately for the showbiz parents, it was Gab’s decision to graduate from college first before entering show business.  Gab took up a degree in Photography from De La Salle – College of St. Benilde.

Sandy is confident of her son’s acting skills although she admits that from time to time, she also gives him some pointers not only in acting but also in being a professional.

“Ang pagiging professional ay hindi naman mahirap gawin.  Basta gawin mo ang trabaho mo nang maayos at maging tapat tapat ka,” explained the actress.
