XSTIG: Canon PIXMA kicks off 2013 with new all-in-one office printers

Canon PIXMA, the number one inkjet printer brand in the Philippines for 2011 and 2012, starts the new year with a fresh line-up of business multifunctional printers: the MX927, MX527, MX457, MX397, and Ink Efficient E610.  These printers offer not only print, copy, scan, and fax, but also various printing solutions that will suit the specific needs of any productive home office.

The PIXMA MX897, MX527 and MX457 have wireless printing capabilities.  Users can directly connect to various printing options such as PIXMA Cloud Link (except for the MX457) and Creative Park Premium services, and from there, browse through a series of templates and stationeries through the printer’s LCD screen and print them immediately.  They also offer Google Cloud Print and Apple Airprint in which users can print documents mobile by connecting to the printer through their smartphones or tablets.

All printers use Canon’s FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) technology to maximize the print quality of an image or text.  Its Hybrid System allows black text to be printed extremely clearly using Pigment Black ink, and photos to be printed with smooth color gradations using Dye Color inks.  Aside from excellent print quality, these printers show speed and efficiency with the fully-integrated ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), which can automatically print, scan, and copy up to 30 pages in one go.  Going a step further, the MX927 can print up to 35 sheets at a time and can scan and copy both sides of the documents with auto-duplex capability.

The Canon PIXMA Ink Efficient E610 also allows printing of up to 800 pages per black cartridge and 400 per colored cartridge requires much less cartridge replacements than a lower-capacity printer.  Replacing an ink cartridge is more convenient with the FastFront design feature, which situates the ink tank at the front panel of the printer for easier access.

For the faxing of confidential documents, these printers are outfitted with an optional security feature.  This asks users to enter the fax number twice to avoid sending private documents to the wrong recipients.  These printers can also scan and create PDF documents with security passwords in order to protect important information.

The PIXMA MX927 is equipped with advanced features for enhanced user experience.  Its Double Front Paper Cassette lets users load two different sizes of paper at the same time without adjusting the printing properties.  The Direct Disc Print allows the direct printing onto a printable Blu-ray disc, CD, or DVD.  And the Auto Duplex Print, a function also shared with the PIXMA MX527, can print both sides of a page automatically, saving paper.

To simplify operations, the MX927 and MX527 each have a unique Dual Function Panel in addition to their LCD screens.  This panel has a special ability to adjust its buttons according to the current situation.  In a certain menu, the buttons might be arrow keys for easy navigation, but these buttons become number keys when in the fax mode.  By making each menu relevant to the situation, users will not be daunted by a multitude of unnecessary controls.

New programs have been created in all four printers for users to easily and spontaneously design and print photographs, putting a bit of fun into the home office environment.  For example, Canon’s My Image Garden software streamlines different work processes like scanning and printing under one user-friendly interface.  Not only will it organize scanned photos and documents for easy search and retrieval, but it will also enhance the colors of faded photographs.  For users with many photos on Facebook, Canon’s Print Your Days software uses on-screen animations to help users assemble attractive photo collages with multiple layout templates and fancy background patterns.
