Megan Young Wins First Miss World Title For The Philippines

In the history of the Miss World pageant the Philippines has never won the crown, rather has placed as the first runner up at most. But this night was something of a suprise as Megan Young won the very first Miss World Title for the country. This now completes the long-awaited "Grand Slam" for the world pageants namely Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth.

Megan Young started her career as a Starstruck Avenger and later moved to ABS CBN to look for more opportunities. Recently, she made news with her intention to join the Miss World Philippines whose franchise is now under the supervision of Cory Quirino.

Megan Young had a sweeping victory with numerous special awards in the competition and became a favorite and eventually crowned as the winner. There were controversies that came with her crown but she showed discipline and desire to prove that she is deserving of the title.

And just tonight, in Bali Indonesia where the world is watching, she finally broke the spell and gave the Philippines' its first title. There were also a call from conservative Indonesians to scrap the contest from the Islamic nation.

Megan in the final show of the Miss World was also given standout moments such as the "World Dance" where she did the Singkil. There are also tough competition among favorites like Gibraltar and Brazil who were part of the final 6.

As expected, Megan's thruimph will trend on social media sites and will spark and attract Pinoy Pride as beauty queens this year are very lucky. The question now is if the other in-waiting queens like Universe, Tourism, and International feel the pressure to win in their future competitions.

For now, let's celebrate as Megan makes history and made the nation happy to sleep tonight.
