Art in the City: Filipino artistry in focus as Greenfield kicks off Art for Generations

The rise of an idle piece of land into a vibrant urban district tells a compelling story of how art, nurtured by a creative vision and an enduring commitment to innovation through time, weaves cultures and ideas all together to build a community where lifestyles thrive in progress.
This has been the story that Greenfield Development Corporation has been carefully crafting all these years. Greenfield began as one of the country’s largest property ownership and landholding companies in 1961, armed with a significant pool of land and resources, and an unwavering vision of land stewardship and legacy.
It began etching a name for itself through its involvement in the development of growth centers and key areas in Metro Manila, particularly in Mandaluyong City, its host city. One key achievement that has successfully risen from this endeavor is Greenfield District—a 12.8 hectare mixed-use development that stands as the company’s flagship project.

LIVEvolution: Leveling Up Living Standards

Image
Times are changing fast and the economy is at its record high with construction and Real Estate as one of the growing industries in the country. Just like mobile and internet technology, there is no other way for industries but to "level up" existing practices and information to new and more effective ways that will be game-changing yet efficient.

We might remember the days that materials were made from the things found in the environment, but given the limited resources and space of the modern city and the changing rural landscape, and extreme natural phenomenon which would damage structures is a constant strife for the construction industry.

REEL DEAL: The Counselor REVIEW

Image
Dirty business is indeed very dirty and bloody at the same time. But it can also be luxurious and philosophical. This is what I realized when I saw "The Counselor" starring Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, and Penelope Cruz.

The movie is a very complicated web of characters ranging from the innocent girl, drug cartels, crazy sex freaks, and many other links that one would never imagine being part of an illegal trade.

The Counselor reminds me of Vanilla Sky with Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz, and the one thing missing is Tom Cruise, which is filled  by Michael Fassbender. The  best thing about the Counselor is its eye for detail, which is best seen with Cameron Diaz's character. Sophisticated, complex yet close to reality which gives that chill and sometimes pity to  innocent characters involved in the mess.

REEL DEAL: Director Neil Jordan on Byzantium and Vampire Movies

Image
Neil Jordan’s body of work is an odd, fascinating beast. On one level, the Irish director’s fablelike films — with their often mystical elements, their vivid photography, and their tormented, passionate characters — are remarkably consistent in tone, style, and themes. On another level, though, the films are a diverse lot, ranging from moody dramas like Mona Lisa and The End of the Affair, to thrillers like The Crying Game and The Good Thief, to big-budget, star-studded epics like Interview With a Vampire and Michael Collins, to fairy tales like The Company of Wolves. He’s even made a couple of exuberant comedies along the way (including High Spirits, which is better than you remember). Now, with his latest, Byzantium, a tale of mother-and-daughter vampires (played by Gemma Arterton and Saoirse Ronan) hiding out in a British seaside town, Jordan has returned to the vampire genre, and the result is one of his strongest, most ambitious and romantic works in years. Jordan talked to us ab…

REEL DEAL: Shakes and Rattles In Korean Movie "Horror Stories"

Image
Asia’s culture probably holds the creepiest of ghostly encounters based on true events due to the people’s dire need to connect with the spirits of their loved ones or someone who might reveal truths of unsolved mysteries.
In the upcoming Korean movie “Horror Stories 2,” parallel to the country’s “Shake, Rattle and Roll” ghost stories, three stories of spirits come to life in an insurance company wherein they connect with the dead to find answers to fraudulent claims.
