Eight United States (US) Representatives headed by Congressman Ed Royce, together with US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg, visited Typhoon Yolanda-affected communities in Leyte last 21 February 2014.

The United States of America responded swiftly and generously to WFP’s funding appeal, providing close to US$25 million, representing 27 percent of overall contributions received for the relief operation. The flexibility of both in-kind and cash contributions allowed WFP to tailor assistance to match the diverse and changing needs of affected populations.
