Mystery, Drama, and Stalkers WIth TV5's New Series 'Jasmine'

It's been a while since we had a mystery-drama serye in TV, and Ace Saatchi and Saatchi, Unitel and TV5 have come up with a breakthrough series starring Jasmine Curtis Smith as... uhm..."Jasmine". But don't belittle the simplicity of the title because it brings a great cast of unique characters, an interesting story, and an approach that is similar to american series which can uplift Pinoy TV series. 

Breaking away from the traditional romance/drama genre, ‘Jasmine’ is a show full of mystery and suspense that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. It stars Jasmine Curtis Smith, who plays a fictional version of herself: an indie actress who is on the verge of becoming a mainstream celebrity. She faces the usual challenges in the show biz industry: failed relationships, rivalries, the pressure to win awards, and unsuccessful auditions. Amidst all this, Jasmine begins to receive mysterious messages from Maskara, an obsessed fan who is willing to do anything to make her happy—even if it means hurting everyone around her.

A creation of award-winning advertising agency Ace Saatchi and Saatchi, in partnership with Unitel and TV5, ‘Jasmine’ brings the story to life 24/7 by also making its characters exist online—and in person.

One example is how supporting character Wendell Bautista, a famous entertainment blogger and friend of Jasmine’s on the show, has an actual blog, Facebook Page, and Twitter and Instagram accounts—all of which are regularly updated. Wendell has even appeared in blogger and fan events to support Jasmine’s endeavors.

Then there’s Maskara, who takes cyberstalking to a new level, and displays his love for Jasmine in his digital shrine: jasmineallmine.com.

Meanwhile, news about the show, behind-the-scenes photos, and character profiles are viewable on the ‘Jasmine’ Facebook Page, and Twitter and Instagram accounts.

TV5 also introduces its TV5 Mobile app which Android-users can tune into while the episodes air. Trivia and other cool facts about the show and its characters pop up in real time. Be on the lookout as well, for promos to win phones, load, and more.

‘Jasmine’ co-stars Vin Abrenica, Gerard Sison, Alwyn Uytingco, Matt Padilla, Carlo Orosa, Cai Cortez, Marvelous Alejo, Justine Pena, Nicole Estrada, Jelson Bay, and Meyanne Plamenio. Big names from TV5 are also expected to make cameos throughout the show’s nine-episode run.

We had a preview of the pilot episode which was very impressing, though there are still room for improvement, it made good point interesting dialogue and quotes. Using TV5 as the actual network they thrive in makes a great exposure and interaction with other Kapatid shows. They also have a Showbiz Blogger who has an active blog, social media accounts that will also run with the series, now that is very interactive! Jasmine will air on TV5 on June 1, 9:15 PM on TV5.
