SYKES Celebrates a POPTASTIC 2014!

Year End Celebrations are one of the most anticipated events of the year, and for the pioneer in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry in the Philippines, SKYES never fails to make employees feel that their hardwork throughout the year gives them the Christmas/New year treat they desreve. And for years, SYKES has celebrated its Year-End Celebration (YEC) held last December 14 at the SMX Convention Center with theme "POPTASTIC".

Last year, we were also at the same venue for their SKYES Music festival which featured Up Dharma Down and Parokya Ni Edgar. It was one big party that night, and for this year, they made sure it will par of do better for this year as they also expanded new businesses this year and prepared more prizes and performances that made the event even more bigger.

For BPO veterans like me, it is important that we do feel appreciated for the work done after stressful shifts and no-holiday schedules that has contributed to the growth of the company as well as the growth of the nation. Having the team celebrate these rare occasions makes the bond more deeper and keeps us going to continue to years and years of service. And of course, it will be the best if you'd be lucky enough to be picked in the raffles.

Naught and Nice Host

It was hosted by the funny and playful Boys Night Out Trio of Sam YG, Toni Tony and Slick Rick together with TV show host Karen Pamintuan.

Boys Night Out has been one of the most hottest radio shows for the past eight years, and the group has been nominated as Yahoo! Philippines' best radio program for three years now. Pamintuan headlines listened, now on its third season and continues on its third season and continues to be LIfestyle Network's flagship and lifestyle authority program.

SYKES Vice President for Philippine Operations Dean Van Ormer says that really leave no stone unturned when it comes to mounting their YEC. "The YEC is already a part of the SYKES calendar - something that employees look forward to every year. And we make sure it is worth the wait."

POPTASTIC Performances

Opening the show are SYKES employees letting it loose to the melody of the year's biggest pop hits. The high anticipated and competitive dance competition also feature employees from SYKES' different business units grooving to different Korean  Pop tunes and costumes, adding color and quirk to the festivities.

SYKES Senior Managerment Leaders Van Ormer, Senior Operations Director Marc Guison and Operations Director Kenneth Juarez also suprized everyone with a performance of Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, showcasing Western Pop signature and savvy style.

And the POPTASTIC  highligh is none other than Ely Buendia, widely regarded as one of the most respected Pinoy Music Icons and biggest pop rock act in the country. He thrilled everyone with his rendition of timeless hits sucj as Huling El Bimbo, Alapaap, and Magasin and currently performs as guitarist and lead vocalist for Pupil and The Oktaves.

Icluded in the program are the recognition of the 10 year and 15-year service awardeed, and the employee club of the year. More than 1.5 Million worth of prizes was also give away to estatic raffle draw winners.

Around 6000 employees were in attendance, and held simultaneously with SYKES Cebu's own Year-End Celebration at the J. Convention Center.

SYKES Director for branding and Communications Cecile Moreno-Venancio says that the YEC is an opportunity for the company to showcase the culture of support it is very much proud of. "In a company as big as ours, we make the most out of every chance to interact woth our people who makes the company's daily operations productive and smooth." She adds, "We only get to do this once a year, so we make sure that they all feel valued."

Van ormer underscores POPTASTIC celebrates the massive growth of the seeds of SYKES planted way back in 1997. "There were no call centers back then, but SYKES was already breaking new ground." The BPO industry is now very big - POP in all way imaginable. It is already something that is enjoyed and appreciated by a very big number of people, and SYKES is very proud to have started it all."

For winners in the dance contest as well as raffle prizes were indeed showered with cash as they gave away multiple 50,000 Pesos to lucky employes who entered the raffle which was made after all of the performaces.

From its humble beginings to the BPO frontrunner it is today in the Philippines, SYKES Philippines is indeed here to stay and will always be thankful for its employees who has contributed to the growth which they are still doing until now.
