Confidence and well-dressed men go hand-in-hand

Every man aspires to be the alpha male—the captain of industry, a star of the big screen, at the helm of the ship, the leader of the pack. This innate desire to strive to become the best has been hardwired into man’s primal instincts since the earliest of civilizations.

In prehistoric times, genetics were the only factor that determined which man would take charge as the alpha male. Size, strength and aggressiveness were all that mattered because these qualities were necessary to ensure survival.

However, it would take much more than just good genes to become the alpha male of today. While the modern man still needs to possess the qualities of a natural born leader, the present generation requires a man who is hard-working, intellectual, and most of all, confident in the face of any adversity.

Disney•Pixar’s "The Good Dinosaur" asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend.

“From the moment Arlo is born, he’s afraid of the world,” says director Peter Sohn. “He’s fun-loving and determined; he’s got a lot of fire when it comes to his desire to help his family. But he’s scared. His fear holds him back.

“From the beginning, Spot is the opposite of Arlo,” continues Sohn. “He’s tenacious, brave and an animal in every sense of the word. It’s the story of a boy and his dog—only in our story, the boy is a dinosaur and the dog is a boy.”

The real score behind your pet’s finicky appetite

If you keep your pet active and happy by giving food, and yet your four-legged friend just sniffs it and walks away, your pet might be a picky eater. Most pets will eat everything without a moment’s hesitation, so it can be concerning why your dog or cat doesn’t show much enthusiasm during meal time.

As pet owners, you want to provide the best for your furry ones. The problem may be traced from the pet’s health or lifestyle, so a consultation from the most trusted vet is advised. To help determine the cause of your pet’s pickiness on food, the Pet Food Institute and the Veterinary Practitioners Association of the Philippines, through its Well Fed, Well Nurtured campaign, cite some contributing factors that make your pet a finicky eater.

REEL DEAL: Black Mass REVIEW

Gangster life in America actually span a long time and has gained hold of specific districts in major cities. And Boston was one of them, we have seen movies about gangsters who are set in the 1920s to 40s. But Black Mass is a new perspective of gangster movie with Jonny Depp and Benedict Cumberbatch leading the star studded film.

Black Mass is a biopic of the James "Whitey" Buldger who was known to ruled over South Boston under the Winter Hill Gang. The operations of the gang unexpectedly got a deal with the FBI to be a formidable asset. Though it would be beneficial on both parties, the fact that there is an illegal or criminal activity going on makes the alliance very complicated.

There is also the involvement of his brother played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who was a public servant by that time. Whitey also has a band of people who are either simple people to highly skilled killers which are forced to live with each other. It is really awkward and scary. This gave me the intensity of danger of the characters, no one is safe, and no one is innocent.

Everyone’s a storyteller. Whether it’s a true-to-life experience or a fictional one woven from the imagination, we all love sharing and listening to stories. If you’re a college student and you’ve had one brewing in your head and urging to be told, now’s your chance to bring it to life.

Pioneer, Your Insurance is now giving college students nationwide an opportunity to share their stories through the Stories of Hope Playwriting Competition. Young and aspiring playwrights can submit their original works as one-act plays written in English, Tagalog or Taglish. The stories must convey hope to the audience, whether as a drama, comedy, or even musical.

“This competition aims not just to tell stories, but to uplift others as well,” said Lorenzo Chan, Jr., Pioneer Life President & CEO. “We hope we can do that through the Stories of Hope competition.”
