REEL DEAL: Train To Busan REVIEW

Zombies everywhere! Well that is true enough in entertainment all around the world, and we are getting a littled tired of the undead. But comes into the scene a South Korean Film Train to Busan which was made by Next Entertainment World starring Gong Yoo and Kim Su-an.

But what is impressive about the movie is that it premiered during the Canne Film Festival along with the best films in the world. So it built a little intrigue for me if it does really deserve that spot in the festival. Although it was also proven by another thriller movie The Shallows" which also premiered in the festival as well.

So what is the deal with Korean Zombies? With all variations of zombies revealed in many movie, tv series, and comics, they came up with a theme that can ampify the horror. Put zombies on a moving train going south and the country is now in the brink of collapse. So the options and weapons to fight them are real close to nil.

An it was also a success with more than 80 Million US dollars in the box office. Initially I thought it would be similar to Wolrd War Z, but probably with the zombie swarm only but aside from that it delivered its charm like many Korean films.

Train To Busan stars Gong Yoo, Kim Su-an, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Choi Woo-shik, and Ahn So-hee. Now showing in cinemas September 1.

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: 좀비 열차 축제

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (Less gory zombies, yet scary as F***)

Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (linear plot but charming and thrilling twists brings supersizes)

Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars (A wide cast for a spectrum of characters, but I love Ma Dong-seok role here)

Pros:  Zombies, CGI, Cinematography, Plot Twists

Cons: Toned down violence

Music and Soundtracks:  5 out for 5 stars (rare moment that I appreciated music and score for a zombie film)

Overall: Rating 4.2 out of 5 stars (It is now my favorite Korean movie to date, it is indeed more than a train ride!)
