REEL DEAL: I'm Drunk, I Love You REVIEW

The hugot industry has been the trend with Philippine cinema with all genres of movie finding a way to incorporate the theme in the most unusual stories. But if we go back to the basic hugot story, make it so realistic that it would look like a dramatization of real life experiences of people and then you got this movie. I'm Drunk, I Love You is definitely a realization of how love and alcohol are mixed into the movie.

We have to admit that we love drinking (moderately), and it comes with the emotional baggage of love and life. It revolves around the lives of Carson (Maja), Pio (Paulo), and even the side story of Jason (Dominic). With graduation upon the two, they find themselves on a road trip to La Union for a music and beach festival.

And with Carson's unexpressed love interest towards Pio for seven years, the need to get drunk is the catalyst to get the message across. Along with her gay best friend Jason, the deep "hugot" of her romance towards him is revealed. The interesting thing is how can she say it face to face with Pio.

I'm Drunk, I Love You stars Maja Salvador, Paulo Avelino, Dominic Roco,  Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Irma Adlawan and Jim Paredes. Directed by JP Habac, Music by Jerrold Tarog. Now showing in cinemas.

EXTRA!

There is also a preview titled "Angelito" for the upcoming Artikulo Uno film "Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral" which stars Paulo Avelino as the young Gregorio Del Pilar. It is like 20 minutes long but indeed worth seeing as we wait for the movie on 2018. So please be a the cinema early!

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: Bagnet! Bagnet! Bagnet!

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (Cinematography is cute though some scenes can be too bright or too dark)

Plot: 4 out of 5 stars (You may think it maybe formulaic but it works well with the ending)

Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars (I saw a very different Maja in this movie, like a drunk teenager possessed her and it was great)

Pros:  Bagnet, Music, Romantic Tension

Cons: I feel that the location is not really La Union, but the important thing is the booze right?

Music and Soundtracks:  5 out for 5 stars (in simple tagalog "Tagos na tagos sa pusong kanta na nananapak")

Overall: Rating 4.3 out of 5 stars (My favorite love story of the year and looking how real it is affects me so much and I am now craving for Bagnet and beer)
