REEL DEAL: Bhoy Instik REVIEW

In the recent Sinag Maynila Film Festival 2017, there has been buzz about one of the film entries which included in the festival. Directed by Joel Lamangan, Bhoy Instik prides itself with a cast of great actors, a unique story and movie experience for its viewers.

Leading the cast is Raymond "RS" Francisco, one of well known commercial directors and also the Presdient of Frontrow International, plays Bhoy Instik who is a gay con man with a mysterious past. Ronwaldo Martin (Coco Martin's brother) plays  Marlon who is also a con man who cross paths with Bhoy which led to both of them getting involved in crime together.

Being criminals, their actions is unacceptable, however they also have their own redeeming moments with the reasons why they do it and how they were led to their predicament. They also got involved with the big time criminals who are on the higher food chain.

With the name like "Bhoy" I would associate it to gangs and mobsters like Boy Tumbling, Boy Golden and Asiong Salonga, Bhoy Instik is a new face in the modern world which many can relate to. The issue of drugs and extra judicial killings are also inserted into the plot which has been relevant to current events.

Bhoy Instik stars RS Francisco, Ronwaldo Martin, Jeric Raval, Jim Pebanco, Mike Lloren, and Mon Confiado.

Deliberation time kids!

Show summary in 3 lines: The Con Men

Technical Effects: 4 out of 5 stars (the cinematography was nice)

Plot: 3 out of 5 stars (It was known to have a sequel at the first minutes)

Acting and Actors: 4 out of 5 stars (It was my first time to see RS Francisco in a leading role and he truly embraced the character which I forgot he is the president of a marketing company)

Pros:  RS Francisco, comedic timing,

Cons: more background about the mobs, sub plot

Music and Soundtracks:  4 out for 5 stars (simple yet apt for its moments)

Overall: Rating 4.0 out of 5 stars (Despite the overly used poverty porn, I saw something different, it was sincere, and realistically disturbing reality)
