Top Comedians Bring Funny Back to Monsters in "Hotel Transylvania 2"

Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf, the Invisible Man and the Mummy return for their full reinvention as cool monsters in Sony Pictures Animation's new animated comedy “Hotel Transylvania 2.” Providing their voices are top comedians Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, David Spade and Keegan-Michael Key.

Once upon a time, Dracula (Adam Sandler) was a controlling, dominating guy who used his strength and charisma not only to create the world’s only hotel for monsters, but to become the world’s worst helicopter dad right up until his daughter’s 118th birthday. He’s better now – or is he? Now that he’s a grampa – make that “vampa” – no one could be happier… but when his grandson, Dennis, looks like he might be human instead of a vampire, Drac cracks – determining to bring out the “late fanger’s” fangs no matter what.

Drac's Pack is Back in "Hotel Transylvania 2"‏

“Dracula may be a world-famous monster, but he’s really just a family guy,” says director Genndy Tartakovsky, who helped to reinvent classic monsters, like Dracula, Frankenstein, the werewolf, and more in the hit animated comedy “Hotel Transylvania.” The 2012 original film grossed more than $350 million worldwide and still holds the all-time record for highest opening movie during the month of September in the U.S.

Now Drac’s pack is back, with Tartakovsky returning to the helm, for an all-new adventure in “Hotel Transylvania 2.” The film kicks off with humans and monsters finally learning to co-exist. “All is good in Drac’s world,” says Tartakovsky. “Jonathan and Mavis have gotten married, and then they have a baby boy – Dennis. And that leads to the big question in this film: is Dennis a vampire or is he a human? Mavis and Johnny are ready to accept their son for whoever he is, but of course, Dracula secretly hopes that Dennis is a vampire. He’s afraid that if Dennis is a human, Mavis will want to raise him in the non-monster world instead of the hotel. So Drac is going to do anything to try to bring the fangs out of Dennis.”

Ashley Benson, from "Pretty Little Liars" to "Pixels"

Popularly known for playing Hanna Marin in the hit show “Pretty Little Liars,” Ashley Benson makes the giant leap to the big screen with Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “Pixels.”

Benson takes on the role of Lady Lisa, the film’s 1980s videogame icon, star of the fictional game Dojo Quest. “I get to play a videogame hero – I have two swords and I get to be a badass,” Benson explains. “I’d never worked with swords before, so that was cool. Plus, punching and kicking and beating up Josh Gad is always fun.” (Watch a featurette on Ashley Benson's Lady Lisa here at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-611tXJIC4.)

Adam Sandler, Kevin James Defend Earth from Alien "Pixels"‏

To capture the comedy in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “Pixels,” the filmmakers brought in an all-star cast of comedic film talent. Adam Sandler (who also produces the film) and Kevin James were tapped to lead the team of unlikely heroes who are called upon to save the world. Joining them are Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan.

“The five of them together are just so wonderful,” says director Chris Columbus. “There’s a natural camaraderie and real charisma between the five of them. They truly create a team.”

Sci-Fi Adventure "Pixels" Opens in IMAX 3D, 2D Cinemas Aug 26‏

IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced recently that “Pixels,” the action-comedy starring Adam Sandler, directed by Chris Columbus, and produced by Happy Madison Productions and 1492 Pictures, will be digitally re-mastered into the immersive IMAX® 3D format and released into IMAX® theatres across the Philippines on August 26. Along with Sandler, the film also stars Kevin James, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad and Michelle Monaghan.

How Pac-Man, Donkey Kong Became Giant Pixelated Creatures in "Pixels"

Not only does the unique plot and hilarious comedy of Columbia Pictures’ “Pixels” distinguish it from the crowd, but the film also looks different from other summer films. “Most visual effects movies – including movies I’ve been involved with – set out to create extraordinarily realistic visual effects,” director Chris Columbus explains.

“On Pixels, we were aiming for something you’ve never seen before. When these videogame characters come to life, they take on this pixelated form with an aura lit from within, and constantly moving. It’s literally a three-dimensional version of the 8-bit games you used to see on your arcade screen.”

Michelle Monaghan Relishes Being Lone Female Lead in "Pixels"‏

Michelle Monaghan (“Mission: Impossible III,” “Made of Honor”) stars alongside Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “Pixels” from director Chris Columbus.

She stars as Lt. Colonel Violet Van Patten, a military officer who must oversee a rag-tag bunch of gamers called The Arcaders who are called into action in a bid to save the planet from aliens who attack using famous arcade game characters, such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.

Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad Play Unlikely Heroes in "Pixels"‏

Peter Dinklage (HBO's “Game of Thrones,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) and Josh Gad (“Frozen”) star as two of four unlikely heroes who are called upon to save the world, in Columbia Pictures' new action comedy “Pixels.”

In the film which also stars Adam Sandler, aliens attack the Earth, using 1980s videogames as the model for their attacks. As US President Cooper (Kevin James) calls on Sam Brenner (Sandler) to put together an expert team of Arcaders to help fight the aliens, Brenner tracks down the now-grown men who were the champions as kids.

"Harry Potter" Director Conjures '80s Videogames for "Pixels"‏

From Chris Columbus, director of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer Stone,” comes Columbia Pictures’ “Pixels,” the tentpole action comedy in which aliens attack the Earth, using 1980s videogames as the model for their invasion.

Columbus helped define 1980s movies as the writer of “Gremlins” and “The Goonies,” then went on to direct beloved, classic comedies like “Home Alone” and “Mrs. Doubtfire,” and help launch epic, special-effects blockbuster franchises like “Harry Potter,” “Percy Jackson” and “Night at the Museum.”

REEL DEAL: Young Actor David Henrie Stars In “PAUL BLART: MALL COP 2”

David Henrie, known for TV's “Wizards of Waverly Place” and playing the son on “How I Met Your Mother,” co-stars with Kevin James in Columbia Pictures' action-packed family comedy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.”

The sequel, directed by Andy Fickman, follows the overzealous Paul Blart who attends a security guard expo in Las Vegas with his daughter. Despite being teased by casino security and other attendees, he stumbles upon a heist only he can trip up with the aid of his trusty Segway.

Paul Blart's daughter, Maya, is once again played by Raini Rodriguez. While in Vegas, Maya meets Lane, played by David Henrie. Rodriguez says it’s one more way that her character is coming of age. “We kind of have a moment together, and throughout the movie you see us kind of flirting on and off – and Paul Blart is not happy about that, because it means his baby girl is growing up,” she says.

REEL DEAL: Upgraded Segway Makes Paul Blart A 'High Rolller' In "MALL COP 2"

Blart, of course, is an expert on the machine, which required Kevin James to get reacquainted with his old friend. “It was a little bumpy at first,” he recalls. “It’s not like jumping on a bike again, where you just remember – you have to re-learn it. A couple of times, she got angry with me.”

Funnyman Kevin James, star of the hit comedies “Hitch,” “Grown Ups,” “Zookeeper” and the upcoming sci-fi film “Pixels” appears next on the big screen in Columbia Pictures' action-packed family comedy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.”

It’s been six years since Paul Blart gained fame for his daring rescue of the West Orange Pavilion Mall, and while some things have changed, you can count on Blart to know what’s truly important. “He takes security very seriously,” says Kevin James, who brought the character to life. “Like he says, ‘I didn’t choose security; security chose me.’ Let’s face it – the ride is always gonna be bumpy for Blart and he might screw up along the way, but he’ll never give up – which is why we root for him to win in the end.”
