How the hero dog ‘Kabang’ saved the life, family of her master

Who would have thought that an “askal” (stray dog) would become a celebrated hero? Not even the dog’s master, Rudy, thought the once homeless canine, which he found one day wandering on a street, was capable of doing the heroic acts that she did.

In June this year, Kabang saved Rudy’s daughter, Dinah, and her cousin from being run over by a motorcycle. Before the motorcycle could hit the girls, Kabang jumped in front of it and used her body to stop the vehicle.  As a result, the dog suffered a severe injury to her snout and upper jaw, eventually losing half her face.

Netizens mesmerized by Aljur Abrenica’s dirty dancing in ‘Magpakailanman’

Kapuso hunk actor Aljur Abrenica has vindicated himself from his bashers’ and critics’ taunting about his acting skills when he delivered very exceptional acting in last Saturday’s episode of “Magpakailanman” in which he portrayed the life story of a macho dancer.

The episode won in the overnight household ratings against “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in viewer-rich Mega Manila (25.8% vs. 19.3%) based on data from the Nielsen Television Audience Measurement (Nielsen TAM). Aljur, who was pitted against kapamilya network’s Enrique Gil, seemed to have the edge over his counterpart acting-wise and abs-wise (!).

Dogs may be cute, but remember that rabies kills

For most dog owners, their pets are more than just their bestfriends.  Oftentimes, they are more like family.  Such was the case with Eduardo Sese -- that was before his beloved pet unwittingly ended his life due to rabies.

Sese was a poor familyman in the province of Pampanga. Although he was undereducated and lacked the skills that would land him a good job, he was a righteous man.

He may not have the perfect family and marriage, at least he had his dogs to turn to in his times of despair.  What he didn't expect was that his closeness with his canine friends would cost him his own life.

One day one of the puppies accidentally bit on Sese's finger, and since he didn't realize how harmful that bite could be, he didn't bother to get an anti-rabies shot.

Katrina Halili on moving on: "Nadapa ako, bumangon ako, at inayos ko ang buhay ko"

Kapuso actress Katrina Halili is back in showbiz refreshed and with a renewed spirit. And in her return, she tells her own story in an episode of the GMA drama anthology, "Magpakailanman," which airs this Saturday, January 26.

Barely a few years ago, in the midst of the sex video controversy the actress was involved in, the public saw a devastated Katrina Halili.  But now, a mother of a beautiful baby named Katrence (her daughter with boyfriend Kris Lawrence), Katrina has clearly moved on from her past and is ready to embrace new challenges life has in store for her.

"Nadapa ako, bumangon ako, at inayos ko yung buhay ko. Kapag nagkamali ka, hindi mo na kailangan sabihin sa mga tao na mabuti kang tao, kailangan mo lang itama ang pagkakamali mo at ayusin ang buhay mo," said Katrina.

Girl, sexually abused at 12, tells her story in "Magpakailanman"

Michelle, now 42 years old, may not be the perfect daughter a parent could have but she certainly did not deserve the tragedy she found herself in when she was yet a child: she was sexually abused when she was only twelve years old while at a party in Baguio City.

Michelle was adopted at birth by a rich couple. Her biological mother used to be a househelp working in the couple's mansion.  Since her mother knew she could not provide her daughter with a comfortable life, she decided to put her baby up for adoption. Michelle had known early on that she was an adopted child.

Even if Michelle is not their biological daughter, her adoptive parents treated her as if she were their own.  They enrolled her in exclusive schools and even in dance and music classes during summer breaks.

Unknown to Michelle's adoptive parents, the girl has been mistreated by their housemaids, who made up stories about her and accussed her of stealing her parents' money. Consequently, she was frequently -- albeit, unfairly -- scolded by her parents.  They would learn later that the accusations were untrue and that the maids themselves were the culprits.
