Local movie, TV stars to gather at 1st RAWR Awards at Meralco Theater

It’s going to be a night of glitz and glamor as movie and TV stars, media personalities, and fans come together for the first ever RAWR Awards on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City.

ART IS A BANG: The Bluebird of Happiness

Where does or find true happiness?

It's a very complicated question that both young and old find it hard to answer. There are a lot of possibilities and deviations to answer it. Trumpets Inc answers that with their musical comeback stage play of "The Bluebird of Happiness" held at the Meralco Theater.

This musical though based from a Belgian play "The Blue Bird" by Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinckhas been made into an original production by Trumpets. With book & lyrics by Jaime del Mundo and music by Rony Fortichand, it is a fitting story for the family as Christmas is fast approaching. Its about the tale of siblings Tyltyl and Mytyl as they journey into lands of fantasy and imagination to find the Bluebird that brings true happiness. They will go through a lot of colorful characters that will lead them or distract them to find the bird and find the real meaning of happiness.

ART IS A BANG: Trumpets returns with the magical musical The Bluebird of Happiness

What happens when two kids embark on a magical adventure to find happiness?

The Bluebird of Happiness follows the unforgettable adventure of poor kids Mytyl and Tyltyl search of a mythical creature called the bluebird of happiness. They are accompanied by their dog, their cat, and a candle in human form named "Light" who help them on their journey. Together, they explore wondrous and mysterious lands and meet interesting and enchanted characters in their quest for true happiness.

They visit "The Land of Memory" where they encounter their long dead grandparents, "The Palace of Night" where nightmares and horrors creep from dark corners, "The Forest" filled with trees who have a grudge against humans, "The Land of Luxury" that holds all kinds of riches and bounty, and "The Land of the Future" where sadness is unknown and “The Graveyard” where they must face their worst fears. Despite of all the places they visit they end up where they started and find that the "Bluebird of Happiness" is right in their own home.

ART IS A BANG: Katy! Soon on its 2nd Run

If You missed the staging of Katy! The musical last January, like me, we can actually have another chance to see this one of a kind musical live and now in a bigger venue.

Spotlight Artist Centre gave a sneak preview for Katy! 2nd Run. The cast and production crew of Katy! proudly staged their sneak preview to selected members of the local entertainment media last Wednesday, May 22 at the Mabuhay Restop Travel Cafe and Museum in Rizal Park, Manila.

Below are some of the videos of the teaser performances for the musical, though many theater companies would go for localized broadway plays, Katy! stands out with nostalgia and jazz which paved way for Philippine entertainment to flourish.

ART IS A BANG: School spirit takes center stage as “Rivalry” returns

Good news to those who missed out on the all-original and all-new Filipino production of Rivalry: Ateneo-La Salle The Musical

It’s another opportunity to bring out the pom-poms and prepare the loudest cheer as
4th Wall Theater Company brings back the well-applauded and well-loved musical starting January 25, 2013 at the Meralco Theater.

School spirit is very much alive as Ateneans and La Sallites clash onstage and engage in an intense battle replete with rousing musical numbers, impressive choreography and exchanges of wit and humor. The competition between the two schools is so engaging that even those who are neither from Ateneo nor from La Salle enjoyed the show.

“Based on a backyard study we did, 45% of those who watched the first staging are neither from Ateneo nor from La Salle. More importantly, the audience of theater in the Philippines is not expanding the way it should be. The reason why we have to do this again is we know we have a market to tap. I would like for us to leave a legacy of really expanding the theater industry,” Ed Gatchalian, executive producer and musical director of Rivalry, explained.

An exclusive sneak preview of “Rivalry” was held recently for the online community to experience the much-talked about production.

ART IS A BANG: The Magic of John Williams: 2013

Happening at the Meralco Theater on February 23 at 7:30 PM, featuring OPM artists Karylle and Jose Mari Chan.

Tickets are available at all Ticketnet outlets located at the SM Department Store Customer Service Area and at the Araneta Coliseum Ticket Booths. For inquiries and reservations, please call 911-5555, or you can visit www.ticketnet.com.ph

MUSIC LYF: Christian Bautista’s X Class earns rave reviews; three shows this weekend

Asiansation Christian Bautista did not lie when he said that his 19thanniversary concert is his biggest, best concert to date. Backed with perhaps the best in the industry, Louie Ocampo as Musical Director, Rowell Santiago as stage director, and STAGES as producer, Christian proved that he is indeed the most important male singer of his generation.
X Class boasts of Christian’s finest live performance in his 10-year-old career with able support from his guests Jordan Bautista, Myke Salomon, Ikey Canoy, Zia Quizon, and Alodia Gosiengfiao. During the first two nights of the show, Christian was joined by no less than Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez and international star MiG Ayesa.

This weekend, Megastar Sharon Cuneta (12th) and Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma (13th) will join Christian. Special guests are lined-up on the 14th, which promises to touch the heartstrings o
f everyone who will watch.

MUSIC LYF: X Class - The Xtian Bautista Year 10 Concert

Time flies when you're having fun. And its best when you are also enjoying your musical and acting career. This is what Christian Bautista is having right now with his 10th year anniversary in the industry. I can still remember that he was part of Star in a Million as a contestant and from there, he made in through the very hectic and competitive world of showbiz particularly in the music scene. And even back then, I was a big fan with his singing and acting talent and now even with his dancing skills!

Now with this anniversary, he staged X CLASS held at the Meralco Theater (which he said was a big part in his career especially with Trumpets). The concert goes back to the hits he made in the past decade that made a mark to his fans and also featuring the songs in his latest album and projects like the Kitchen Musical. Of course, his concert would not be complete with special guests like Zia Quizon, Mig Ayesa, Alodia Gosiengfiao and many more that also made the night truly unforgettable.
